I have a mac and im running OSX with 'Tiger'. When I downloaded Flam Player, absolutely nothing happened. Its gave me a new Preference Pane and an application that looked exactly lke real player. Mysql-5.1.47-osx10.6-x8664.dmg I also installed MySQL.prefPane and MySQLStartupItem.pkg. MySQL.prefPane is a Preference Pane. The problem is, whenever I attempt to start/stop MySQL from the Preference Pane, System Preferences just hangs. It runs at about 50% CPU forever, eventually I have for force quit System Preferences. Just like Windows, MySQL installer for Mac doesn't add MySQL executable to the PATH environment variable. Consequently, we have to execute MySQL by specifying the full path to it in the terminal. We are now ready to start the server. Open System Preference and click on the MySQL icon. This will open MySQL preference pane.

- A few years ago we started writing scripts that help install MySQL on OS X. In OS X 10.6 and prior, MySQL was included with the “Server” version of the OS. With the move to Server.app, Apple removed MySQL. Which coincidentally is not long after Oracle acquired Sun which included MySQL. MySQL had a GUI installer for OS X that worked well.
- Setting up PHP & MySQL on OS X Yosemite It’s that time again; Apple has shipped a new version of OS X, 10.10 Yosemite. Apple ships PHP 5.5.14 with Yosemite and this is how to set it up from a clean install.

Mysql For Mac
I installed MySQL 5.7.21 on my Macbook Pro (Retina 15 inch mid-2015) running High Sierra (10.13.2). The install appears to proceed smoothly, but when I go to 'System Preferences -> MySQL' I get the error message 'Could not load MySQL Preferences Pane.' I've tried clean uninstalls and reinstalls a couple of times to be sure there was no corrupt or conflicting file from a previous edition, but the error seems consistent.
Any insights? It does not appears on any current bug reports I could find.

MySQL Workbench for Mac is a unified visual tool for database architects, developers, and DBAs. MySQL Workbench provides data modeling, SQL development, and comprehensive administration tools for server configuration, user administration, backup, and much more. The tool is available on Windows, Linux and macOS.
Features and Highlights
Design
MySQL Workbench for macOS enables a DBA, developer, or data architect to visually design, model, generate, and manage databases. It includes everything a data modeler needs for creating complex ER models, forward and reverse engineering, and also delivers key features for performing difficult change management and documentation tasks that normally require much time and effort.
Develop
MySQL Workbench delivers visual tools for creating, executing, and optimizing SQL queries. The SQL Editor provides color syntax highlighting, auto-complete, reuse of SQL snippets, and execution history of SQL. The Database Connections Panel enables developers to easily manage standard database connections, including MySQL Fabric. The Object Browser provides instant access to database schema and objects.
Administer
The tool provides a visual console to easily administer MySQL environments and gain better visibility into databases. Developers and DBAs can use the visual tools for configuring servers, administering users, performing backup and recovery, inspecting audit data, and viewing database health.
Visual Performance Dashboard
The app provides a suite of tools to improve the performance of MySQL applications. DBAs can quickly view key performance indicators using the Performance Dashboard. Performance Reports provide easy identification and access to IO hotspots, high cost SQL statements, and more. Plus, with 1 click, developers can see where to optimize their query with the improved and easy to use Visual Explain Plan.
Database Migration
MySQL Work bench now provides a complete, easy to use solution for migrating Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, Sybase ASE, PostreSQL, and other RDBMS tables, objects and data to MySQL. Developers and DBAs can quickly and easily convert existing applications to run on MySQL both on Mac and other platforms. Migration also supports migrating from earlier versions of MySQL to the latest releases.
Note: Requires 64-bit processor.
Also Available: Download MySQL Workbench for Windows

MySQL for macOS is available in a number of different forms:
- Native Package Installer, which uses the native macOS installer (DMG) to walk you through the installation of MySQL. For more information, see Section 2.4.2, “Installing MySQL on macOS Using Native Packages”. You can use the package installer with macOS. The user you use to perform the installation must have administrator privileges.
- Compressed TAR archive, which uses a file packaged using the Unix tar and gzip commands. To use this method, you will need to open a Terminal window. You do not need administrator privileges using this method, as you can install the MySQL server anywhere using this method. For more information on using this method, you can use the generic instructions for using a tarball, Section 2.2, “Installing MySQL on Unix/Linux Using Generic Binaries”.In addition to the core installation, the Package Installer also includes Section 2.4.3, “Installing a MySQL Launch Daemon” and Section 2.4.4, “Installing and Using the MySQL Preference Pane”, both of which simplify the management of your installation.
For additional information on using MySQL on macOS, see Section 2.4.1, “General Notes on Installing MySQL on macOS”.
